If you’re aged over 60 or registered disabled you may be entitled to VAT reductions on adaptations to your bathroom and home. If your bathroom is being redesigned to give you practical help, perhaps with the addition of a shower seat or grab rails or even a walk-in bath, you may be eligible for a reduced rate of only 5% VAT if you are aged over 60. Or if you have a long term illness or are registered as disabled, then you may not have to pay VAT at all. 0% VAT can also apply to other home adaptation works including access ramps and wheelchair lifts.
